The universal phone charger plans

The universal phone charger plans

19/02/2009 - Sarah Dean

In the news recently there has been talk about a new universal phone charger that will work in most mobile phones. An agreement was made by the GSM (Groupe Speciale Mobile Association) and 17 leading mobile operators to implement a universal phone charger by 2012. Firms that back the plan include Nokia, Samsung, Sony, Ericsson, LG, T-Mobile, Orange, 3, AT&T and Vodafone.

Companies will have an opportunity to offer their customers the choice to re-use their existing charger when buying a new phone. This could reduce the manufacture of chargers by half which knock on effects such as: reducing greenhouse gasses in manufacture, transport and the waste of 13.6 to 21.8 million tonnes of chargers a year. All these will help the mobile industry reduce it carbon (environmental) footprint by an estimated 50%.

The Micro USB has been decided as the new universal charger connecter. This will look like the black connecter in the image below, which is a smaller version of the standard USB connecter (shown in grey).

Changing the perception of the IT support sector!

Changing the perception of the IT support sector!

19/02/2009 - Alison Hughes

Yet again, enviz IT has updated its image! We are really excited about 2009 as we have had not just an image revamp but we have also launched a brand new pricing strategy as well! Though before you all tut and roll your eyes, the image has not changed our ethos as a company; we are still enthusiastic, young, motivated and we wanted an image to reflect this!

We have added changed the website to make it more relevant and also to make sure that we are much more visible in the search engines! This is a really key marketing tool for companies, if you would like some information about this; please do not hesitate to get in contact with us!

Free IT Support
We are offering free IT support to SME’s. This is remote IT support which you can receive via different methods: over the phone, through your email and most importantly through our secure remote portal which allows us to access your computers in a secure environment. This support allows you to come to us with problems 9am-5pm and we aim to get back to you as soon as we can after we take note of your problem! All IT technicians you speak to are based in our Wiltshire office, so at no point will you be directed to a call centre!

Affordable IT Support
If 9am-5pm remote IT support is not enough for you then we are allowing companies to fully customise their basic package with 7 additional services that you can choose from. Then you simply ‘add IT’ to your package!

We are one of the first IT support companies that are offering not only free IT support, that is not given in a forum, but we are also offering our clients the opportunity to pick and choose what service they want from us!

Complete IT Support
If this still isn’t enough for you then we are offering you all the additional services in one package for £20 per system (instead of the £28 it would normally cost). This is very competitive in the Wiltshire area and you get additional services such as consultancy, upgrades and 1 hour SLA as standard in this package!

Our Packages: Customise your own package

Free!!

Free!!

18/02/2009 - Alison Hughes

You may be asking yourself why we have started offering free IT support especially when there is a recession going on. Well there are a few reasons why:

Technology is underpinning nearly every task that a business has to perform. There are only a handful of companies who are refusing to get a computer, and these will slowly realise that in the 21st century their business is no longer competitive and may find it necessary to get a computer in the future. However, for many SME’s, regardless of their sector, will find that the start up costs associated with buying in new technology is very high and that doesn’t even include the support costs.

Therefore, to offer free IT support seemed like the only logical step for us! It does not cost us much to support you remotely and therefore why should you have to pay for that service! There are many new e-business models that are suggesting that ‘freemium’ models are the future of IT where you get one service free, but then pay a premium for another, such like the mobile phone companies do.

But enviz IT isn’t even doing this! We are offering a free service for SME’s, and even if they want to customise their package with the services that they want, or if they want to get a comprehensive package it will still not cost the earth and we remain very competitive throughout Wiltshire and beyond!

We know how hard it is to set up a business at the best of times, and now when there is so much uncertainty in the world, we thought we would give some company’s budget a break and offer a service that really does do what it says on the tin without any catches!

Social Networking

Social Networking

16/02/2009 - Alison Hughes

2009 has brought about an increase in the awareness of the benefits that social networking can bring to your business (whether it is B2B or B2C). Networking as a marketing strategy can bring you great ROI and it is also a great marketing method especially if you are on a budget, but… make sure you put in the time!

Social networking firms such as 4N are booming this year as people are realising the advantages of putting yourself out there to give free advice, without any hidden agendas, to other members about issues that relate directly to your industry, or simply advice on personal matters. This gives you and your company credibility and builds people’s trust in you; an essential part of creating relationships with clients. This can happen through forums or through a series of networking events.

Other social networking sites like Twitter are a more social way of developing rapport with other businesses. By regularly updating your ‘tweet’ people can see what you are up to, what offers you have on at the moment and also what events you may be going to! This insight into what you are doing, gives a side to your company that other people may not see and it’s even better when you are not plugging your business all the time. People want to know that you are there because you want to be and not simply due to ‘the numbers’ game.

One of the best pieces of advice that is out there is: “Be Pro-active, not re-active when networking”. The business will not come to you, you have to go out there and earn any recommendations that are passed your way!

Search Engine Optimisation

Search Engine Optimisation

10/02/2009 - Sarah Dean

Most company’s want at be at the top of all search engine websites. Search engine optimisation or SEO is a key tool in increasing the ranking of you website on a search engine. There is many different ways of doing this from making the most of your H tags to links from or to your website.

The first thing that you should consider when designing your website is the text that you include. You want to make sure that the ‘key words’ you chose are what you paternal clients would search. A handy tip is to compile a list of the words that you think people would search and try to include them as often as you can in the text of your website, including the headings. Also you can find some key words that your competitors use. You can do this by looking on your competitor’s websites and look at their codes. You can do this by right clicking on the mouse on the web page and click on View Source. This will open up the code page and look at the part the says METANAME=”keywords”> this should give you some helpful tips.

Search engine’s work by indexing information on the World Wide Web into different caterers such as heading, titles or paragraph these can be tagged as H1 to H6 in order of importance. So for the main page heading use H1 tags and for other less important but still relevant words use the H2 and H3 tags in order of importance. For example: a company selling mobile phones might use that headline’ Ultimate Talking Devices’ or ‘Walk And Talk’ but in reality no one is going to type into a search engine ether of these phrases. When choosing a heading you want to make sure you use the key word of the product you are selling but still keeping a catchy heading. So you could put ‘Cutting Edge Mobile Phones’ which will still be appealing but you are still including the key word of mobile phones.

Using links in or to your website is a good way to build up your SEO. This is another thing that search engines look for when searching for key word. A good idea is to use websites such as MySpace, Facebook or internet forums to link to your website.
